Engram Wallet Documentation for Dero Users
The Dero Foundation developed a bespoke GUI wallet for Dero users. Engram Wallet has been researched and worked on since the release of Stargate — the only encrypted layer-1 blockchain with smart contracts — well over 18 months of development.
On December 24, 2023, the official Engram Wallet Beta 0.5.0 was released with major upgrades from the Alpha release, including Gnomon support and UI improvements. Engram is designed to promote your own blockchain independence — connect to your own node and trustlessly use the unique features of the Dero Network, the only fully encrypted blockchain built from scratch. Download Engram Wallet to get started.
Running your own node maintains maximum privacy: all dealings with the network are between you and Dero, no middlemen. The Dero node is lightweight enough to run on a Raspberry Pi — an impressive feat for a layer-1 homomorphically encrypted blockchain with an 18-second block time. Wallet Modules
Identity
Use the hard-coded Dero Name Service contract (akin to DNS) to give your address an easy-to-read name. Instead of a long string of numbers and letters, name your address something like "DeroIsTheBest" and use that to send and receive. Minimum 6 characters, case sensitive. A unique Dero feature: you can only send to addresses that are real and registered — no chance of sending to a dead, unused address.
My Account
Access your seed phrase, change your wallet password, and manage your Datashard file. The Datashard stores wallet data including Gnomon indexer data — you can delete it here to resync if needed.
Messages
Dero transactions are fully encrypted, and inside each transaction is a unique payload space — also fully encrypted. Send encrypted messages up to 128 bytes on-chain. The same payload space carries URLs, license keys, private voting payloads, and similar small structured data.
Transfers
Queue up asset transfers for sending. Build them with the Send button, review them in the Transfers module, and send multiple transfers at once in a single transaction. Dero supports sending to multiple addresses in one transaction — for example, send DERO to 3 different addresses simultaneously.
Asset Explorer
Built on top of Gnomon, the local trustless Dero smart contract search engine and indexer. Since Dero is a private layer-1 SC platform, nobody knows what assets are in which wallet — only you can populate your wallet's assets. Gnomon locally and automatically scans smart contracts to identify assets belonging to you. You can also call SC functions directly from your wallet — no web interface or trust required.
Services
Set up Service Addresses — your wallet address integrated with a payment ID in a single address. Add a requested DERO amount and comment/description. When someone pastes this address, it auto-populates the amount and description. Imagine selling jeans for 15 DERO: set up a Service Address on port 420 with the comment "Apple bottom jeans" — the buyer simply pastes the address to pay. Future QR code support will make point-of-sale even easier.
Cyberdeck
Open RPC calls for connecting to dApps. Unlike any other SC platform, Dero wallet data is private, so apps need to query the wallet for information like balances. Cyberdeck conveniently generates a random username and strong password to secure your RPC connection.
Datapad
A locally encrypted notepad inside your wallet. Keep notes securely and export contents in plaintext when needed. Imagine a future where this encrypted notepad is backed up on-chain via a smart contract, synced anywhere you recover your Engram wallet.

Credits & Acknowledgments
A capable wallet client surfaces Dero features that are not available anywhere else in crypto due to its unique private architecture. Blockchain was meant to be more than slinging tokens for fiat gains. Built correctly, private by default with full encryption and paired with a Turing-complete DVM, it can truly be tools to assist Mankind.
Please give some love to the lead developers Dank and Nelbert442 and everyone else ever involved with the Engram wallet. They built this wallet from the ground up specifically for Dero Network — a truly native Dero wallet in pure Golang.
